Have you ever had that feeling where something just doesn’t sit quite right anymore?
Nothing’s necessarily wrong. On paper, it probably still makes sense. You might even really love what you’re doing. But there’s something in you that keeps nudging you in a different direction.
I’ve been sitting with that feeling for a while now.
This year has looked really different for me. I’ve been making a lot of changes behind the scenes in my business and my life. Some have been easy. Others have asked me to let go of things I genuinely love.
At the beginning of the year, I cancelled three retreats I had planned and took a step back to focus on my health. More recently I’ve been closing parts of my business that have been a huge part of my life for years. At home we’ve been simplifying things, getting organised, sorting our finances, clearing things out and tying up all those little loose ends that take up more space than you realise.
There has been this real stripping back of things.
For a while I didn’t really know what I was making space for. I just knew that I needed it.
I think we’re so used to doing things the other way around. We want to know exactly what’s next before we’re willing to let go of what’s here. We want the plan and the certainty that it’s all going to work out.
But sometimes you need to create the space first and trust that what’s meant to fill it will come.
That’s been a big lesson for me this year.
I’ve also been paying a lot more attention to resistance. That feeling when something starts to become heavier than it used to be or you notice yourself pushing against it again and again.
It can be really easy to tell yourself to just keep going. You’ve committed to it. People are expecting it from you. Maybe it’s working really well. Maybe you once wanted it more than anything.
But we’re also allowed to change.
We’re allowed to outgrow things. We’re allowed to realise that something which was right for one version of us might not be right for the person we’ve become.
For me, that’s meant learning to trust my intuition over what I think I ‘should’ be doing.
And that doesn’t mean every decision suddenly becomes easy.
Some of the changes I’ve made this year have felt scary. There’s been uncertainty around what they’ll mean for my business, my income and what the next chapter actually looks like. But underneath that fear there has also been a lot of peace.
I think that’s the difference I’m learning to pay attention to.
You can feel scared and still know something is right.
You can love something and still know it’s time for it to change.
You can be grateful for what something has given you and still choose a different direction.
That’s where the courage comes in.
Not waiting until you’re completely certain or until the fear disappears. Just being honest with yourself about what you’re feeling and taking the next step from there.
The old version of me would have wanted dates, timelines and a plan for exactly how everything was going to unfold. I’m trying not to do that this time. I’m letting things land when they’re meant to and trusting myself a lot more in the process.
If you’ve been feeling that little nudge in your own life, business, relationship or career, maybe you don’t need to push it away or convince yourself that everything is fine just because nothing is technically wrong.
Maybe you just need to listen to it.
You don’t have to make a huge decision today. But you can start being honest about what feels right for you now, rather than what you thought you would be doing or what you think you ‘should’ be doing.
Sometimes following your intuition means choosing courage before you know exactly where it’s going to take you.
And maybe that’s enough for now.
